What is the Message?

Knowing  the Gospel

A task without a stated purpose is meaningless and a waste of time and energy.

God Sent His Son...
Making disciples who know and reveal Christ is a commendable goal and a daunting task. Becoming a disciple and leading others to discipleship is literally letting the world know about Jesus. The entirety of scripture leads us to Jesus, and the gospels focus intently on two primary necessities.

  • Who is Jesus?
  • What has He done for us?
Volumes of work from print and video to preaching have addressed this issue and can consume a lifetime of study. Unless that study and preaching leads to action, knowing about the gospel alone is shallow and a travesty.

We are not theologians... just tellers. Watch the following short videos which give a succinct introduction and overview of the Gospel.

Watch... absorb... and act!

You can expand this introduction by your own reading of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) and continue through the New Testament.

The following books are solid in their study of the life and ministry of Jesus.

It's not all about you... it's the TRUE TRUTH OF SCRIPTURE!

As disciples who know and reveal Christ we need to understand it's not our opinion that brings others to Jesus. It is the truth of the Bible and the FACT that Jesus lived, died, rose again and IS GOD REVEALED IN MANKIND!

For starters, we need to have enough actual knowledge of scripture to show others the blueprint given in the Bible to create a renewed relationship with God.

Bill Bright of Campus Crusade for Christ developed a concise sequence to illustrate the essentials of bringing us into a redeeming relationship with God.

The Four Spiritual Law still represent a useful tool to be memorized to the extent that they are a natural part of our conversation.

The Gospel is never old, ancient or obsolete. It is eternal.

Bill Bright gives an overview of the necessity and simplicity of presenting the foundational scriptures that show a person how to become a follower of Jesus.

The Four Spiritual Laws and the associated scriptures are listed below.

  • God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life (John 3:16; 10:10).
  • Man is sinful and separated from God. Therefore, he cannot know and experience God's love and plan for his life (Rom. 3:23; 6:23).
  • Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sin. Through him you can know and experience God's love and plan for your life (Rom. 5:8; 1 Cor. 15:3 - 6; John 14:6).
  • We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives (John 1:12; 3:1 - 8; Eph. 2:8 - 9; Rev. 3:20).

  • What a worth goal it is to make the time and energy to memorize those concepts and scriptures to the extent they become a natural part of our lives.
